i wanted to break this post up with some new stuff:
the first one is mixed media on cardboard. it's for Illustration Friday's word, "Red". the second is for the Minneapolis Art Community Blog for the word, "Invisible". i decided to rokk out the vector stuff, since i haven't in awhile. i am trying really really hard to get an actual website up, which will probably be done in flash with some sweet limited animation! whoo hoo!

i know i've said this before, but if anyone who is reading this needs an illustration done, i am available for freelance, just email me!

eh... sorry, this is actually all old stuff that i really haven't posted, and some re-dos. i have re-done the face on the Elliott Smith illustration to make it look more like him. i also re-did the boy in the bear suit. and a little fyi - if anyone wants a print of the Elliott Smith illustration, i have one lying around and you can email me at: billy(dot)morehouse(at)gmail(dot)com

i haven't copied any drawings in a long time. i remember when i was little i would constantly draw disney characters. i just wanted to maybe mess around with them again, just to see how close i could get them to look like the original. the last one is the closest i will ever get to a self portrait, haha. it was originally for the illustration friday topic, "mask", but i didn't get it done in time.

here's a painting i did for this week's word on the Minneapolis Art Community Blog. it was for the word hang. maybe the bird isn't really hanging, whatever. i had to scan it in four different pieces, which kind of sucks, but i just compiled it into photoshop, so it works out alright.

this is a collaberation between a friend and i. yesterday i showed him how to use a wacom tablet, and he drew some doodles. i colored the pictures, and did the backgrounds. i guess you could say they turned out kind of wacky, but it was fun.

this is something i did for my friend jeremy. it took forever to get that face right... i had to re-do quite a bit of it... but i'm happy it turned out alright. i originally hand drew it, but the porportions were looking off, so i decided to try out directly in photoshop. made it a lot easier. well, if you don't know, it's Elliott Smith, one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. not even joking.

painted two things today/last night. fyi - i'm horrible at taking pictures, so it looks a little weird. but man... i haven't touched a paintbrush in months. i can never get around to it because i usually never have paints, and or anything to paint on. i borrowed my gf's paints and i found a piece of cardboard box and an empty milk carton, so i just thought i might as well try something different. i'll prolly just give the cardboard box to some homeless dude or something.

millions of sunsets

this is my submission for the theme "song lyrics" in the Minneapolis Community Blog. it is the song "Jogging Gorgeous Summer" by Islands. it was originally going to be a song by Manitoba, but i felt the Islands lyrics fit it better: "Millions of sunsets but the one i remember, the where you told me you'd love me forever." it took me longer than i thought, and it didn't turn out quite how i would have liked it. the rabbit head people i thought turned out neat, but i kind of rushed everything else. eh, whatever... next week's entry will be on a smaller scale.
